Unable to create an "Access View"
WSS 3.0, Window 7 SP1, Office Access 2010, IE 9 I'm trying to do something that I know has worked in the past, but am unable to do so now. I'm attempting to create a view on a list using the option "Access View: Start Microsoft Access to create forms and reports that are based on this list.". Access launches, I'm able to choose options, create my view in Access, save the changes and the database back to the site, but the actual new view doesn't appear in the list of available views. Some of the things which have changed since this last worked for me are upgrading to IE9 and Office 2010. Anyone have any luck creating views this way/using a similar configuration? Thanks, Bob

I haven't tested with Access 2010 but years of using SharePoint has shown me that it is always going to be better to use matching Office applications. I.e. you should have no problems getting normal functionality to work with the Access 2007 / WSS 3.0 combination. Regretably my 2010 book covers only Access 2010 and Access 2007 with SPF 2010 and my 2007 book covers Access 2007 with WSS 3.0 and imo you are unlikely to find anything - book or article - that covers Access 2010 with a 2007 SP product as when these (SP 2007) things were mostly written Access 2010 didn't exist. No help, I'm afraid. Maybe someone else has the time to try this unusual combination out to check your results. SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

Hi Bob, I reproduced your issues. I tested it under the environment MOSS 2007, Win server 2003, IE 8, both Office Access 2007 and Access 2010. With Office Access 2007, the view dropdown list can display the Access View I created; when I use Office Access 2010, the database can be uploaded to SharePoint site, but Access View I created doesn’t appear in view dropdown list. And I couldn’t find any other discussion about this topic. I think that must be compatible issue about Office Access 2010 and WSS 3.0/MOSS 2007. So I suggest you post your feedback about this issue to Microsoft in the following page: http://connect.microsoft.com/site428 Hope it helps. Regards, Daniel
